Re-Fridge Case Study

December 2024

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, one third of the food produced around the world is wasted. Of that Americans waste 43% from their homes. This is due to poor fridge organization and forgotten/misunderstood expiration dates. This leads to increased food waste and a lack of sustainable disposal practices. People need a convenient solution to keep track of their fridge inventory, monitor expiration dates, and ensure that food is used.

The desired outcome:

The app aims to cut down on food waste by reminding users when food is about to expire and keeping the fridge organized. It accurately tracks expiration dates to avoid eating spoiled food and helps users find places to donate extra food easily. The app also gives tips for eco-friendly disposal, saving time and effort with automated reminders.
